I need your help...

Aloha ~ Jordy and I are going to Hawaii over Thanksgiving week. I have been to Oahu and Maui but Jordy hasn’t been to any of the islands, so why not go! Although I feel like the eastern/southern Caribbean is much prettier, I am determined to prove myself wrong! We were planning on going to Kauai but decided to do a Hawaiian cruise that visits all of the islands. This cruise is so cool and is usually really expensive. Since I’m obsessed with planning vacations and shopping rates, I couldn’t pass up this amazing deal! Our cruise stops at the islands and docks where you can just walk off the boat and doesn’t leave for 2 full days/nights. This way we won’t feel rushed and can explore and relax all day and night. After our cruise, we are spending a few nights on the North Shore of Oahu.

Okay… this is where I would love your help… Does anyone have any suggestion(s) on what the “must see’s and do’s” are in Oahu, Maui, Hilo, Kona and Kauai? We only have 2 days and I don’t want to miss anything that we must see. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Mahalo!!

The seven sacred ponds in Maui...even though it is a bitch to get too it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. There are beautiful black beaches along the way.

We did a helicopter ride in Kauai. It was so fun and so beautiful. There was also a fun waterfall we hiked to.

You should call Joel for ideas in Kauai. He pretty much planned our entire week there and we had a blast.

You have to go to Matsumotos and get shaved ice on the North Shore of Oahu. http://www.matsumotoshaveice.com/

And Sharks Cove is awesome snorkeling. You have to rent or buy snorkel masks and those crazy tube things to go with them, but it is so cool to see all of the nature. And fun to explore.

I also loved Byodo In Temple. They have filmed it in Lost. You can say a prayer and light an incense. Wear bug spray. Seriously.

We also rented wave runners in Halewia and sea turtles popped their heads up all around us the entire time we were out. It was kind of expensive for an hour of activity. But you only go to Hawaii once in a while. I thought it was totally worth it.

The one thing I wished I would have done in Kona that I didn't get a chance to was swim with manta rays. You can either snorkel or scuba dive. I hear the scuba diving is awesome. You don't have to be scuba certified. They have a beginning scuba class that you take and then you go down. I hear both scuba diving and snorkeling with them is amazing.

On the north shore Matsumotos is awesome for shaved ice. If you like Thai food there is a really good restaurant just a few doors down from Matsumotos.

Chris and I did a helicopter ride when we were in Kauai. The company we went through was the only one (at the time) with a helicopter that was doorless. Yes, that's right! We were belted in but MAN when he took sharp turns it felt like you were almost going to fall out!!! Most thrilling thing I've ever done in my life! If I remember right their name was A-1 Aviation or something along those lines. Good luck sweetie. Have a blast!

Nat - Where do I begin, considering the fact that I lived on the North Shore for a few years there is so much to do. Give me a few days or give me a call and we can talk. I have traveled a lot and Hawaii still tops it off for me!

Natalie (hey I don' know if you remember me way back from school), any way I was looking on Jen Phillips blog and found you and a couple other people from back then :) Any way, I went to Kauai a few years back and we stayed on the island for a week. I highly recommend kayaking the Napali coast. It's the only way to see the coast and you are with a guide the entire time. It is beautiful. We also took some scuba diving lessons and and we went surfing. You may have done those things but if not, they are both well worth it. Kauai is pretty low key and there didn't seem to be a lot open at night. I hear the helicopter ride is ok, we didn't do it so we could spend money else where. Oh there is also a 6 mile round trip hike that we did. It hiked right up to a waterfall where we jumped in and swam underneath the waterfall (even though there was sign that said no to, oops). Any way, just thought I would say hi and give you my two cents :)

Natalee, Natalee...Brooke tells me we have a common addiction. I have been calling her lately with guilt after eating entire boxes of Smart Cookie sugar cookies. She tells me you do the same thing. I'm so glad, I thought I was the only one that would do such a thing!

The Fern Grotto on Kauai is beautiful. You know all the fun things on Maui...bamboo forrest, Hana... Have so much fun, sounds like a blast!
